Quillday Data Deletion Policy

This page explains how to delete Quillday data. Quillday is a local-first journal. Land Tech Web Designs, Corp does not host a Quillday account or a copy of your diary.

There is no Quillday account to delete

Quillday does not create a developer-hosted login. Apple’s account-deletion rule for apps with sign-in does not apply as an in-app “Delete my account” button, because there is no Quillday membership to erase on our servers.

Delete journals on the device

  1. Open Quillday.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Tap Delete all local journals.
  4. Confirm. This removes every journal, entry, and attachment stored in the app on that device.
  5. If an encrypted copy is in your iCloud or Drive, the app asks whether to delete that copy as well.

That wipe includes photos, audio, Time Capsule letters, and any Apple Health snapshot stored on a page. Choosing to keep the cloud copy leaves it where it is and stops Quillday from putting those pages back, or writing over them, until you restore or copy again from Backup. You can also delete a single journal (except the free default journal, which you can empty or rename) or delete individual pages, including from Recently deleted after seven days.

Uninstalling Quillday removes the app container on that device. It does not cancel a subscription.

The automatic copy in your own cloud

Once a journal has pages, Quillday keeps an encrypted archive in storage you own — your iCloud Documents folder on Apple, or your Google Drive application-data folder on Android once you connect Drive. When you delete all local journals, the app offers to remove that copy in the same flow. Choose Delete that too (or Delete here and in iCloud on Mac) and Quillday deletes the archive and the key that opens it. If the account cannot be reached in that moment, the pages on this device are still gone, automatic restore stays off, and you can finish the cloud erase from Backup once you are signed in.

If you already wiped an older Quillday that did not ask, or you want the files gone without opening the app:

  • Apple: delete quillday-backup.qday from iCloud Drive → Quillday. Then remove Quillday’s iCloud data for your Apple ID (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Quillday). That also clears the private QDVault record holding the key that opens the archive, and any Plus QDPage records.
  • Android: go to drive.google.com → Settings → Manage apps → Quillday → Delete hidden app data. That removes both quillday-backup.qday and quillday-vault.json, the file holding the key.

To stop Quillday making a new copy afterwards without deleting the one already there, keep the cloud copy when you wipe, or sign out of iCloud / leave Drive disconnected.

Archives you exported yourself

If you saved or shared a passphrase-encrypted .qday archive, delete that file wherever you put it (Files, email, a shared folder). Land Tech cannot access or delete files in your Apple ID, Google account, or anywhere you sent them.

Optional Companion key

A model API key you pasted stays in this device’s secure store until you replace or clear it in Companion, or until you delete the app. Quillday never received that key. If you used Ask with my key, OpenAI or Anthropic may retain what their own policies describe. Request deletion from that provider if you need it.

Subscriptions

Quillday Plus is billed by Apple or Google. Deleting local journals does not stop billing.

  • iPhone / iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or Apple subscription settings
  • Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions

What Land Tech can delete

We do not hold your journal vault. If you contact us, we can confirm that and point you to the steps above. We cannot remotely wipe a phone we do not operate.
