New study frameworks, related verses, Strong’s definitions, audio read-along, and church-shared notes are now live on the web and in the free companion apps.

The Hidden Word helps churches and individuals hide God’s Word in their hearts—through weekly lessons, memorization, reading plans, and now deeper verse-by-verse study tools. With Hidden Word Bible Lessons 2.3.31 and companion app 1.0.9, that study layer is ready for your church site and for anyone using the free iPhone and Android apps.

What’s new

  • Study note frameworks — Capture what you’re learning with SOAP, HEAR, or Inductive prompts on any verse. Notes stay with your account on the web and sync to the companion app.
  • Related verses — Explore cross-references from an expanded Treasury of Scripture Knowledge pack, served from your church site (no extra phone-home for this list).
  • Practice this verse — Jump straight from the Bible reader into memorization practice for the verse you’re studying.
  • My notes and Church notes — Keep personal reflections private, and read pastor- or leader-published study notes for the same chapter or verse when your church shares them.
  • Tap a word to define — Look up Strong’s-style word studies without leaving the passage.
  • Book and chapter context — Quick chips for author, audience, purpose, and date help set the scene before you dig in.
  • Compare translations — Put the selected verse side by side across translations you already use on the site.
  • Audio read-along — Listen to the chapter while the current verse highlights (when Hello AO timings are available).
  • Verse tags and memorize decks — Tag notes (for example, grace or prayer) and open a filtered practice deck from that tag.
  • Share plan reflections with your leader — Reading-plan reflections can be shared so leaders can encourage and follow along.

Site admins on 2.3.31+ can publish Shared study notes (Bible Lessons → Shared study notes): series, scheduled publish dates, optional intro-type overrides, bulk markdown import, and privacy-safe engagement counts. The companion apps pick up the same REST-backed tools—cross-references, book intros, audio cues, pastor notes, and verse tags—when members connect to your church site.
