If you have a website, the top goal of any website owner or designer is to get the website listed and ranked on Google, Bing and other top search engines. In this article out goal is to educate our customers and friends on How to Get Found on Google!

- Develop an Action Plan before you start
- Before you design your page, determine what your goals are - Key Words, Target Audience
- Be sure you have an SSL Certificate on your Site. Read more
- Utilize SEO tools such as Yoast or Squirrly (I use both and both are great products)
- Utilize H1, H2, H3 Tags in your site
- Optimize your images, and put your key words in the image tags
- Key words in Content.. Your not going to get found if your not talking about your keywords..
- Bold your key words
- Page Name - Be sure your page name includes your key words
- Responsive Websites - If your website is not google friendly you should immediately contact a competent website designer for suggestions on fixing this. (ps. Bing also has a mobile friendly test.)
- Make use of Site Maps. (Both Yoast or Squirrly can help with creating these)
- Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools (can't say enough here.. use this)
- Google Analytics - Get reports as to who is visiting your site, what they are searching for. (both Yoast or Squirrly can assist with this)
- Have you heard the phrase that "Content is King"... Write your articles with Human readable content ("make it simple") 2 lines will not get you listed.. (why do you think this page has a lot of content on it... I want google to find this page and list it) Publish Relevant Content. Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings and there is no substitute for great content.
- Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, etc.. use them and tie them to your website.
- Google Places, Google Business, Bing Places etc.. (Free - why not use them)
- Broken Links - Scan your site weekly for broken links. If your site has broken links your telling the search engines your site is not being maintained and is no longer relevant.
The only way to reliably build links is to create relevant content. In 2017, the way people will make their content stand out enough to earn links will be to incorporate design and formatting directly into the content.
Speed King. Just like content is king, the speed of your website affects how your website is seen by the search engines. Multiple research has shown slower-loading webpages are associated with higher bounce rates, and up to 40% of visitors are likely to abandon your site if it loads longer than 3 seconds.
